Turbine compressor washing rigs

Lightweight Rigs

The Juniper lightweight aircraft turbine compressor washing rig comprises either one or two stainless steel pressure vessels mounted in a rigid tubular steel frame with two pneumatic tyred wheels. The complete unit is designed to be light to manoeuvre for one person.

Each pressure vessel comes complete with sight glasses to indicate the level of fluid, a hermetically sealed filler-cap, a gauze strainer, and various pressure control valves. The pressure vessel(s) are pressurised with either nitrogen or compressed air from a cylinder mounted on the frame. Explicit control of pressure at all stages ensures constant fluid delivery. The two tank model is especially useful where a rinse is specified by the engine manufacturer to complete the wash. One tank can be full of washing fluid and the other can be full of demineralised water or both tanks can be full of water, as required.

The engine can be washed and then rinsed without disconnection of the single delivery hose. Closing of the turbine bleed system is effected with pressure from the washing rig bleed hose. Fluid delivery hose, and bleed hose where needed, are neatly coiled on stowage hooks at the side of the unit. Two rubber feet pads are provided at the front of the frame to keep the washing rig in-situ and to act as a brake whilst engine washing is undertaken.
